Timothy Veach was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident which occurred around 7:30 a.m., near Mandalay Drive, involved two cars and a motorcycle, said Watterson.

A preliminary investigation into the crash revealed that a 2009 Mazda operated by Judith Meredith, 57, of Poughkeepsie was traveling westbound on Route 55 when she crossed over the center pavement markings and struck an eastbound 1998 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Veach, Watterson said.

After striking the motorcycle, the Mazda then re-entered the westbound lane and struck a 2004 Toyota sedan operated by Brandon Farias, 23, of Poughkeepsie, he added.

Meredith was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, and Farias was uninjured.

At this time no charges have been filed, and driver fatigue appears to be a likely contributing factor, Watterson added.
